My wife and I were married on the island of Kauai and we try to return to Hawaii as often as possible for our anniversary. Traveling across these beautiful islands eventually gave birth to my Flower Art Collection. After going to a variety of botanical gardens and taking many flower photos during our trips, I decided to use these to create a unique form of art that went beyond a typical photograph. And, with the last name Bloom, I had yet another motivation to pursue work with flowers.

Each piece is designed to highlight individual blossoms, showing details of the flowers, along with abstract backgrounds. The backgrounds are created using old color slide images. The emulsion on them was distorted by dampness over time. If you look closely, a few flowers look like a face and others have interesting details which appear to be floating on terrestrial-like backgrounds.

As seen below, three of the flowers have a clear acrylic frame with LED lighting and others have custom frames that compliment these flowers, creating colorful, one-of-a-kind artwork perfect for home or office. The photographic prints are on canvas and mounted on wood stretchers for a more artistic look. I have some other pieces not shown, but if anyones wishes to see more or would like to visit the Mad Garage in S. Pasadena, please let me know and I will be happy to set up an appointment.
